KUMBH
Kumbh is the world's biggest fair and famous festival, the word kumbh means pot, the places where the AMRIT KALASH put down is called as kumbh. In this fair people comes from not only India but also from all over the world to see the fair and to have holy snaan or sacred bath. This fair and festival is started from the first day of Hindu calendar month "MAAGH" and end on the day "MAAGHI PURNIMA".
MAHAKUMBH
Mahakumbh which is much more sacred than Kumbh, it comes after every 12 (twelve) years. It comes due to the positions of stars, who makes the time much good as other time.Story behind the Kumbh
According to Sanatan dharma's there is a story behind this festival once upon a time it the time when goddess Laxmi has gone and left to god "Vishnu (Narayan)", all Devas and Asuras, at that time all of them had gone to "Brahma" then he advised to them all to do "Samudra Manthan" then they use "Mandrachal parvat" as mathni an Naag Vasuki as the rope and at time many of the precious things had came out of depth of Samudra deva, vish (poison) which was drunk by the god of god "Mahadev". And goddess Laxmi then at last "Amrita Kalash" had came out then devas and asuras started fight. At that Bhagwan Vishnu taken the his look like a most beautiful women in the universe named as "Mohini" and take the Kalash from them ,and at that time the places where she stayed that all places became very sacred and called as Kumbh.
Where it is celebrated
It comes in the three cities of India "Prayagraj", "Haridwar", "Naasik" and in these all the most famous and important place is Prayagraj, because it is also SANGAM OF three Rivers "GANGA", "JAMUNA", and "SARASWATI" also called as Triveni=tri+veni, tri means three and veni means river and Prayagraj is called the Teerthraj means the king of all sacred places. And also all the gods and goddess came here to have bath on "Makar Sankranti", so that's why on that a lot of people are going to have bath in Prayagraj Sangam. and now kumbh is not famous in india for Hindus only but also for people from other countries belonging from another religion. People from other countries also coming here and they have influenced by it.
How our government is working for it
Now our central and state government is also doing so much they are stablishing temporary public toilets, and Now our central and state government doing much work for it so foreigner could feel better here and they don't face any problem. Nowadays many of the temporary hotels, guest houses are coming also and it producing our country's economy and temporary jobs too.
